Wax Melt Care & Safety

At Farmland Cottage Candle Company, we design our wax melts to fill your space with incredible, flame-free fragrance. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, please follow these manufacturing guidelines and safety practices every time you use our products.

Safe Warmer Operation

  • Use Approved Devices: Only use wax melts in warmers specifically UL-listed and approved for wax melts, such as electric warmers or traditional ceramic tea light warmers.
  • Do Not Modify: Never use a stove, hot plate, microwave, or any other unapproved appliance to melt your wax.
  • Inspect Equipment: Ensure your warmer cord is free of frays and the dish is clean, dry, and crack-free before adding wax.
  • Tea Light Safety: If using a tea light warmer, only use unscented tea lights in a well-ventilated area. Never leave a burning tea light unattended.

Handling & Placement

  • Keep Out of Reach: Keep both melting wax and your warming device completely out of reach of children, curious pets, and high-traffic areas where it could be knocked over.
  • Flat Surfaces Only: Always place your warmer on a flat, stable, level, and heat-resistant surface away from drafts, walls, and flammable objects.
  • Do Not Move While Hot: Never attempt to move or handle a wax warmer while the wax is liquid. Molten wax causes severe skin burns. Allow the device and wax to cool completely before touching.

Usage & Disposal

  • Do Not Overfill: Add only 1 or 2 wax cubes to your warmer dish at a time, depending on the manufacturer's bowl capacity. Overfilling will cause hot wax to spill over the sides.
  • Do Not Add Water: Never add water, oils, or any other liquids to your wax melt cubes or warmer dish.
  • Never Pour Down the Drain: When the scent has faded, turn off the warmer and let it cool. To remove, pop the solidified wax out or soak up liquid wax with cotton balls. Never pour liquid wax down a sink drain or plumbing fixture.
